The Office of the Governor and DPS have coordinated with SEMA to schedule six Faith-Based Organization Disaster Initiative Regional Workshops. These workshops will feature Governor Nixon. The events will resemble past workshops but will be updated and focus a little more on lessons learned from the Joplin tornado. The main thrust for these workshops – as in previous workshops – will be to further engage the faith community in key emergency human services (EHS) functions such as mass care, volunteer coordination, long-term recovery, etc.
SEMA Emergency Human Services (EHS) will be sending invitations to the Missouri VOAD, Governor’s Faith-Based and Community Services Partnership for Disaster Recovery, various EHS committees, EMDs, state agencies, faith communities, etc.

April 27, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (At this location, following lunch, all are invited to participate in a group discussion and practical simulation of how a faith community would react to a tornado that struck during religious services. This portion of the program will end at 2:15 p.m.)
